Houley Bah R.M.
Hello my name is Houleymatou Bah. I chose midwifery to be my life’s work because of the holistic nature of the approach, and the opportunity for the relationship building with women during this precious time of their lives. I graduated as a midwife in Algeria, North Africa in 1988. For the next 11 years worked in a variety of healthcare settings, including home and hospital, in Guinea, West Africa. I speak both French and English, and I am the mother of two beautiful boys, 17 and 8 years old. I moved to Canada in 2000, and entered in 2003 the International Midwifery Pre-Registration Programme (IMPP) at Ryerson University of Toronto. At completion of the programme, I received the Kate Sorbara Award for being ‘Best Student”. I became a registered Midwife in Toronto in 2004 and worked in Kingston, and Kitchener-Waterloo. In 2006, I joined the Kensington Midwives in Toronto, and I am very happy to be a part of this practice where I look forward to sharing my experience with clients, and learning more from each birth, as I consider learning a lifetime continuous process.
